Enabling Sefar to Grow Responsibly

Picture General Terms of Purchase Sefar

Sustainability is woven into who we are.

With over 200 years of responsible business practices, Sefar Group has built a legacy where sustainability isn’t just a priority, it’s a core value. We control the entire value chain from yarn to fabrication. This allows us to embed sustainability into every step of our operations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and value creation for all stakeholders. Long-term success is inseparable from environmental and social responsibility.

Our priorities focus on People, Planet, and Good Governance.

Sefar Group

Protecting Our Planet

We are taking meaningful steps to minimize our environmental impact, with climate change as our top priority. ISO 14001 certified, we focus on reducing emissions and energy consumption, responsible water and waste management, and establishing life-cycle assessments for our products. We are working towards a Net Zero roadmap in 2026.

Our products contribute directly to a cleaner world. Through precision filtration across food processing, industrial manufacturing, and beyond, we help our customers reduce waste, minimize chemical use, and improve resource efficiency throughout their operations. This is sustainability built into every product we make.

Key focus areas:

  • Energy
In 2025, more than half of Sefar's energy consumption came from renewable sources, with a 52% renewable and 48% non-renewable split across all operational sites. We are committed to continuously improving this ratio as part of our broader climate strategy.
  • Waste
In 2025, Sefar generated 5,698 tonnes of total waste, mainly arising from production activities. Of these, 3,783 tonnes (66%) were sold for recycling or material recovery, thereby avoiding landfill disposal and contributing to improved resource efficiency.
  • Water
In 2025, total water consumption across all operational sites amounted to 232,596 m³, used primarily in production processes and facility operations.

Focusing on Our People

Our people make Sefar what it is. With nearly 3,000 employees across 25 countries, we are committed to creating workplaces where everyone can grow, stay safe, and do meaningful work. That commitment extends beyond our own walls: through active listening, rigorous safety standards, and a supply chain built on the same values we live daily.

  • Employee Engagement
In 2024, we ran our first global employee survey with an 86% participation rate across approximately 3,000 employees. The results directly shaped how we work, lead, and grow together.
  • Health & Safety
A safe workplace is a fundamental right, not a compliance checkbox. Under our OneSefar strategy, we moved from local to global safety standards, ensuring every employee, wherever they work, is protected by the same rigorous approach. The Group-wide safety standard is integrated into our Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Supply Chain Due Diligence
We take responsibility beyond our own walls. Annual risk reviews using UNICEF child labor ratings help ensure our supply chain reflects the same values we uphold internally. In 2023, nearly 75% of purchases were from low-risk countries and less than 1% from heightened-risk regions.

Responsible Business & Governance

For Sefar, ESG is not a recent priority but built over nearly 200 years. We demonstrate our integrity, transparency, and responsible conduct every single day. These are not values we adopted along the way. They are values Sefar was built on. Generations of employees, customers, and communities have placed their trust in us, and we take that responsibility seriously. Good governance at Sefar is not a compliance exercise. It is simply how we do business.

Our governance structure reflects that commitment. Group Management serves as the accountable body for ESG matters, with the Board of Directors providing regular oversight and strategic direction. Clear policies, defined responsibilities, and a culture of openness ensure that our standards are lived across the entire organization.

  • Whistleblowing
We believe that trust requires the courage to speak up when something is not right. Every employee and third party can raise concerns anonymously through our global whistleblowing system (stop-it@sefar.com), reviewed at CFO level. In 2025, no reports were received.
  • Human Rights
We hold ourselves to international human rights and labor standards across our operations and supply chain. This goes beyond a policy statement. It is a commitment we carry into every supplier relationship, every hiring decision, and every market we operate in.
  • EcoVadis
Independent recognition matters. In 2025, Sefar was rated by EcoVadis, one of the world's most trusted sustainability rating providers, across environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. We received a score of 47 points. For our customers and suppliers, this is an independently verified signal that Sefar takes responsible business seriously.
  • Anti-Corruption and Ethical Conduct
In nearly 200 years of business, our reputation has been built on trust. We maintain zero tolerance for corruption and bribery across all operations and markets. In 2025, Sefar recorded zero confirmed incidents, zero convictions, and zero fines. These are not rules we follow. They are standards we believe in.
